Travel to Angola: An unforgettable experience with Bumuana Foundation.

Bumuana Foundation

In January 2024, I traveled to Angola on behalf of Bumuana Foundation, a country where my heart lies. The mission: to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

After a long flight of 8 hours from Brussels, I landed at Luanda airport. The heat and humidity immediately embraced me, as did the warm welcome from Paulo and Jancinto, our volunteers on site.

The first days were filled with appointments. We visited our lawyer to sort out all legal matters, and spoke to our partners who supply the Angolan specialty coffee that we sell in Belgium. The proceeds from this coffee go directly to our projects in Angola.

On January 30 we experienced a highlight: the visit to the Centro de Acolhimento orphanage in Mabor, Luanda. 45 children live here who have been abandoned by their parents or live in an unsafe home situation. Together with Paulo, Thérèsa, Maravilha and other volunteers we brought clothing and food, such as rice, sugar and oil. The smiles on the children's faces were pure magic.

A few days later, on February 6, we organized a sports activity for about 30 children. It was a fantastic afternoon full of fun, sports and games. We concluded with a snack and a drink for all present.

Unfortunately, on January 5 it was time to say goodbye. The return flight to Belgium left me with a mixture of feelings: on the one hand satisfaction with what we had achieved, and on the other hand melancholy for the people we left behind.

This trip to Angola was an unforgettable experience. It was heartwarming to see how our projects make a difference in the lives of the children. Thanks to the support of our donors, we can offer them a better future.
